Still have to make some 1" higher bars than these raw ones, cut the fork down to 90mm travel (add negative spring spacers) and coat the white cranks black. The fork is sitting at 120mm travel (30mm higher than the intended axle to crown)

 I tried to see if those stickers came off the wheels... they do, but it would require about 3 hours of picking. If Thomas wants to remove them it might be possible to leave goo gone or heat them up. I seem to recall a method for removing stubborn decals somewhere on the web.

 Still waiting on a reference wheel for Ryan's AM 27.5 but the rest of the frame components are ready to go. The Veri-wall Thermlx tubes don't have the usual motor oil and internal coating that Truetemper tubes have, so that is a time saver for building. Hopefully they'll weld easier than the Truetemper tubes.

Gotta wait until tomorrow to start forks. Brian's, Vern's 22"s and a Kooky 26" 

 I built this bike up as a 26" MTBMX. At the moment it has a Taiwanese, single wall garbage wheel on the front but it 180'd down a two stair well enough. This has got a 72* head angle, a 15" chainstay and a 20mm drop. It feels very comfortable so far and I'll need to build up a front wheel to see what the geo feels like at the skatepark and dirtjumps.

 I put a gusset on the ST/TT as the chainstays are dimpled for right and left drive and are consequently a little flexier than normal.

 Some wasted shop time this week included welding the cast iron wedge guide that broke off one of my small machining vises. This takes time as it requires preheating and letting the weld arc sit for a lot longer than steel (to prevent immediate cracking). Then the work has to be wrapped up in a leather cover to keep the heat in until it cools down as slow as possible.


I've started over on Brian's frame already. The one below has a slacker (72.5*) head angle than it was supposed to (74*). One of the head angle guides was sitting a few degrees off while I measured the head angle initially. It will be a rideable frame as there are other BMX frames with the same head angle or slacker.

 I skipped out of work for most of the day as it was probably the last day of sub 80 degree weather for the next six months. I found a set of rogue trails adjacent a creek which produced big bones and artifacts. The little yellow guy is a Gary bird point (actually an arrowhead) made of petrified wood and the broken grey one is an older version of the same type; likely used on an Atlatl spear. Pretty stoked to find about 5 miles of trails and possible areas for new trails.
